ODI Debut : Sehwag's maiden century in mid-2001 in Sri Lanka was not enough to gain selection in the Test team for the corresponding series. Sehwag made his Test debut in late 2001 in the First Test against South Africa in Bloemfontein as a middle-order batsman. He scored 105 on debut despite the South African win.
Test Debut : Sehwag made his test debut against South Africa on 3 November 2001 and that of ODI against Pakistan on 1 April 1999. He has entered the Indian team as a middle order batsman and later became the opener.
Achivements : He got Arjuna Award in 2002, Padma Shree in 2010 along with several others.
