Rakshita was born on 31st March in1984 in Mumbai. Her real name is Swetha. Her father, B.C. Gowri Shankar, was a famous cinematographer in Kannada and her mother, Mamatha Rao, an actress in Kannada films.
Rakshita spent her child in Mumbai and learnt dance in early years of her life. She also participated in television programmes at the age of twelve. Her father’s untimely death disturbed her a lot.
Rakhshita began acting career with a Kannada block buster film “Appu” with Puneeth Rajkumar as co-star. She also performed the same role in Telugu remake of “Appu” which was renamed as “Idiot.” She made a special appearance in a song in Lakshmi Narasimha where she entertained her fans performing on the beach.
Rakshitais made her position in Telugu cinema industry with these movies. She starred with top Telugu actors such as Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR, Jagapathi Babu and Ravi Teja.
Rakhshita was popular as the BOMB heroine in Kannada film industry. She got numerous offers in Kannada films. She produced prestigious project Jogayya directed by Prem starring Shivarajkumar in the lead role.
The gorgeous actress took retirement from films when she got married with Prem, a popular Kannada film director in 2007.
Rakhshita has great love for Kannada language and tradition. She also has a great interest in reading books, listening to music and travelling. Her favourite authors are Agatha Christie and Sidney Sheldon.
